English Project'Festivals Around The World-Festival Of Sanfermi-'Spain-Pamplona

Hi, we are Daniel Franco, Sebastian Manzanaera, Andres Olivares and Ramon Vega, and this is our festival, the festival of San Fermin.

The festival of San Fermín in the city of Pamplona that is locates in Navarre, Spáin. Is a deeply-rooted celebration held annually from 12:00, 6 July, when the opening of the fiesta is marked by setting off the pyrotechnic chupinazo accompanied by Matthew Lauzon, to midnight 14 July, with the singing of the Pobre de Mí. While its most famous event is the Encierro, The Running Of The Bulls, the biggest day is 7 July, when thousands of people accompany a replica of the statue of Saint Fermin along the streets in the old part of Pamplona. San Fermin is accompanied by dancers and street entertainers, such as the Gigantes (giant-sized figures who represent the King and Queen of Europe, Asia, Africa, and America) and the Cabezudos (the Bigheads). The week-long celebration involves many other traditional and folkloric events. It is known locally as Sanfermines and is held in honor of Saint Fermin the co-patron of Pamplona. Its events were central to the plot of The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway, which brought it to the general attention of English-speaking people. It has become probably the most internationally renowned party in Spain. Over 1.000.000 people come to watch this festival. Kukuxumusu is known for making clothes and other products of this event.

The Running Of The Bulls

Although each morning's premiere event starts at 8 a.m., the runners have gathered at least an hour earlier in an area at the beginning of the route called Cuesta de Santo Domingo to ask for the protection of the Saint by singing a chant three times before a small statue of San Fermin which has been placed in a raised niche in a wall.
A San Fermin pedimos, por ser nuestro patrón, nos guíe en el encierro, dándonos su bendición.(2x) Viva San Fermín. Gora San Fermin. ("We ask San Fermín, because he is our Patron, to guide us through the bull run, giving us his blessing.(2x)"),
with a red handkerchief (the pañuelo) tied about their necks, and some wearing a red sash (the faja) tied around their waist. Anyone who survives a close encounter with a bull is said to have been protected by San Fermin's cloak.

The Actual Run In This Days

The encierro begins at 8:00 a.m. sharp when the first cohete firecracker is lit to announce the release of the bulls from their corral. A second firecracker signals that the last bull has left the corral.
The event is dangerous. Since 1924, 15 people have been killed (most recently, a 20-year-old American in 1995 and a Navarra man who died 2 September 2003, after falling into a coma after the run), and over 200 have been seriously injured. Most injuries nowadays, however, are caused by the increasing rush of participants seeking to run with the powerful bulls. The organizers release multi-lingual guides (with safety tips) to accompany the running event: it is strongly recommended that these be read beforehand.
Since the publication of Ernest Hemingway 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises about the event, a large percentage of runners are foreigners. Most lack the experience and skill needed to run safely in the encierro. Local people, as well as Spaniards from other areas of Spain, have had more opportunity to practice, having grown up with other encierros, bull and cow festivals, which used to be held in a wider space than in the historic center of Pamplona.
Stray bulls might become extremely distracted. Therefore, the organizers
send a "second wave" of "cabestros" (tame steers) to run through the streets after the "first wave," in order to collect any stragglers. The shops and residences along the course are boarded up to prevent damage by either bull or human during the race. One particular stretch of the course, called Mercaderes, is particularly notorious for injuries on its sharp turn. On rainy days the bulls cannot turn well on the streets, and often collide into the wall; tear marks from the sharpened horns against the pulp wood barriers give an indication as to the events of days before. While locals are always keen to avoid this corner, it is not uncommon to see tourists getting trampled and seriously injured there.
The course concludes at Pamplona Plaza De Toros, and the bulls are herded inside the corralillos until the afternoon's corrida.
Once all of the bulls have entered the arena, a third rocket is released while a fourth firecracker indicates that the bulls are in their bullpens and the run has concluded. Some participants of the encierro remain in the arena, when vaquillas emboladas (young cows with wrapped horns) are released among them and toss the participants, to the general amusement of the crowd

This Is The San Fermin Song

My Experience in NPA Nacional Peace Assemlby

Hello i am Andres Olivares and i am going to tell you my experience in NPA.

My experience in NPA was so interesting for me, because i had never had it in my life.
It all started when the miss Adriana Neira give us the notice that in this year we have to make NPA. Our instructions for NPA was first to brin a portfolio with all the documents we need for NPA, and to be ready for a simulacrum of NPA.

In the simulacrum we make a similar Assembly of NPA but this time was only to be ready for the real one, and make us to know how was the parlamentary use, and how was the NPA.

For the NPA we were devided in delegations, such as Liberal Party and other delegations, and we were called Delegates.Every single delegate had a especific commission, in very commission diferent delegates with different delegations, and every commission had a specific theme to treat.

-My delegation: Liberal Party.

-My comission: Human rights.

-theme to treat: Ethnic Groups.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

My Experience In NPA

Hi, I am Daniel Franco and I am going to talk you about my experience in NPA. My delegation was the Liberal Party and my comision was Enviormental; Water as a fundamental right.

Name: Daniel Franco

Delegation: Liberal Party

Comision: Enviormental; Water As Fundamental Right

First we start practicing in our English class, our Miss, Miss Libia said us to explain some characteristics about our delegation, there was a future president of NPA named Luisa Parra. Miss Libia invited her to see us if we were doing good, and she also explain us some questions.

The next week in Wednesday, the day of the simulacrum of NPA the presidents passed by all the classrooms asking if we have questions aboutt it, about point of order, or posicion paper or work paper etc. Then it came the day the 27 of March of 2009 was the real NPA. So First at 7:00 a.m all the delegations had to agroup in their comisions. So for 7:00 a.m to 8:40 or 7:30 a.m we start debating the respecting tittle, in my case waster as a fundamental right. But before doing that we had to read our posicions paper. We we finished reading the posicion paper, we start debating, at first no one said a word, so the presidents decide to put a crisis. Our First Crisis was that the FARC exploted a tube of water in VillaVicencio. We debate this, My delegation participated like 6 times, and then we had recess. In recess some delegations were complaining about some unfar things the presidents made, like the say. We started saying that the presidents were not prepared, and that we will complain with the miss. But no one complain. Then it came our second crisis that was that U.S.A was putting their wastes in the amazon river and thay blame the FARC. We also debate that a long time but finally U.S.A was blamed. The we had lunch we dont said nothing we only play. Then we came back of recess, and we start debating, our new crisis was that the FARC destroy an acueduct and that brign a lot of problems. We debate this crisis a long of time, some delegations were requesting about that not to blamed the other delegations, they wanted solucions, the time was running, and we were aproximating to the prices, so we decided to finish the debate quickly, only 1 delegation was near for lossing the vote, was the U Party. So we finished with no solucion and we made the work paper, I made a group with Radical Change and the Ambiental Ministry. We read it, and then we went to the cafeteria for the prices. Of My Comsion only Radical Chage and Farcs won a price and of My comision only Andres Olivares won prize, Oscar Ramon won 2 prizes but he was not there so his prizes werre given to the ELN.

My experience in NPA was good, I think it was funny but I though that my presiednts were not very prepared and unfair.

N.P.A Nacional Pease Asamble

Hi I am Ramon and i will tell you my experience in NPA. I was of the delegation liberal party and i was in the commission of economy and society and the topic to trade was illegal money capitation. When we start I was so nervous but then all people start talking and sharing their opinions.first of all the president that was Juan Sebastian Sierra and Laura Guaqueta of the comicion start taking the position papers and we past to the front to read them. Then we start debating many delegates were indisposed and they don't say any thing. All was okay until after a recess a crisis enters to the room and it affects me. It was about some politics of the liberty party were include in the lists of D.M.G.at that moment i was in chock, I don't know what to do. After some minutes i finally take the decision of apologies with all the delegates of the comity and promise them that I will take them out of the politic movement when i said this the presidents accept and the debate continue normally. The NPA was all the day from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. for me this was a good experience because I learn many things about politic and the problems of the society were we live.

My expirence at NPA

N.P.A

First, our teacher Miss Gomezcasseres help us by making a exposure about our delegation, in our case "Liberal Party" we talk about the history and our paper in Colombia, that day the Miss bring a girl form eighth grade, for helping us to use the correct speaking leangue and how to participate or get dress that day.

Second, the school make a drill to be prepared for that day so that day we make a mini debate in wich we learned how to be prepare and all the skills we need for the real NPA, for doing this the drill we where spread with other delegations in a specific commission (every delegate went to a different commission).

The experience in NPA was so interesting because our propousal was to make a solution for each problem they told us and we make a debate to find a solution for that problem and to see why someone make that and how I said before to find a solution, for this dont happen again in this country or in ours outsiders.
